Q&A
About PLVGCVLT
Who is behind this shop?
My name is Hugo, and I am the creator of the PLVGCVLT shop. I combine my passion for woodworking and body modification through the crafting of wooden objects, particularly body jewelry designed for stretched earlobes.
I am the sole person managing the shop — from product creation to shipping, as well as website design, visual content, and social media management.
I work in a small workshop located in Moselle, in the Land of the Three Borders (France, Germany, and Luxembourg).
What training have you completed?
I obtained a National Diploma in Fine Arts (Art Option) from the National School of Art and Design in Nancy, France.
Products
Are the products handmade?
Yes, although I use a few power tools, most of my work is done by hand using traditional craftsmanship.
The circular pieces are individually shaped on a wood lathe, the final sanding is done by hand, and even the packaging is printed from a linocut made by me.
I regularly share videos showing the different stages of my product manufacturing process, so feel free to follow me on social media to see more!
Can I rely on the size indication of the wooden plugs?
As the plugs are handmade and wood can slightly expand or contract depending on the ambient humidity, I allow for a margin of less than half a millimeter from the stated diameter.
A wooden plug should be worn in a fully healed and stabilized lobe, so this margin (if it exists) should not be noticeable.
Should I select a different size if I want to order teardrops, saddles, or other plug shapes?
Non-circular shapes have been designed to match the exact size of a standard plug. It is therefore neither necessary nor recommended to choose a smaller size, as this could actually result in a poor fit in the lobe.
Do you offer custom-made products?
Yes, whether it’s for specific measurements (half sizes or large plug sizes) or a custom project not listed in the catalog, feel free to contact me so we can discuss the feasibility of your project.
Will the final product of my order match the photos on the website?
Wood being a natural and dynamic material, the grain and color may vary slightly depending on the selected species. It also changes over time and can develop a beautiful patina after being worn for a while. The unpredictability of wood is also its greatest asset, as each knot or irregularity makes your product truly unique!
The same applies to pyrography, as the result may vary depending on the size and type of wood chosen. So feel free to contact me so I can create a scale test of the design on the wood you wish to order.
Hygiene, Safety, and Wood Care
Can wooden plugs cause an allergic reaction?
Wood is known for being lightweight, comfortable to wear, and it significantly reduces unpleasant odors for those prone to them.
To minimize the risk of allergic reactions, I have selected a range of wood species commonly used by wooden plug manufacturers. Exotic woods are only offered as inlays within another wood to avoid direct contact with the skin. Despite these precautions, there is no such thing as zero risk, and each body may react differently. It is therefore recommended to remove your plugs at the first sign of an allergic reaction (redness, irritation, swelling, etc.) and consult a doctor if necessary.
For the finish, I use no varnish, only vegetable oil and carnauba wax, which are also perfectly suitable for vegans.
Can I stretch my lobes with wooden plugs?
No, wooden plugs should only be worn in fully healed and stabilized lobes.
How can I maintain my wooden jewelry?
Simply apply a drop of vegetable oil (olive, coconut, jojoba, etc.) from time to time using a clean, dry cloth on your jewelry. After a few minutes of drying, they’ll be ready to wear again!
Order, Payment, and Delivery
How do I place an order?
Simply add the desired items to your cart (be sure to select 2 units for a complete pair of plugs), create an account or log in if you wish, and then complete your order using your preferred payment method.
For custom projects, I will send you a link to a unique, personalized product page, which you can also add to your cart like any other item.
What payment methods are available?
You can pay for your order using a credit card, a PayPal account, Apple Pay, or Google Pay.
What are the production and delivery times?
The average maximum production time for most orders is around 10 days. This may vary depending on the complexity of the project, order volume, and any rest/vacation periods, which will always be clearly indicated on the homepage. If you’re hesitant to order due to potential delays (for example, for a birthday gift), feel free to contact me contact me beforehand to confirm whether the timeline can be met.
The delivery time for mainland France is approximately 2 to 3 business days, and about 1 to 2 weeks for other destinations.
What delivery methods are available?
I use the French postal service, Laposte, for order shipping.
I only offer tracked shipping, allowing you to follow the progress of your delivery. The tracking number will always be sent to you by email once your order has been shipped.
Support
How can I contact you?
You can contact me anytime via the Contact section on the website, or by sending an email directly to: plvgcvlt@gmail.com
I will answer your questions as quickly as possible!
Can I withdraw my order?
Regarding wooden plugs and tunnels, I unfortunately cannot accept returns for hygiene reasons. Since wood cannot be effectively disinfected, I cannot do anything with a pair that has already been worn by a customer, even briefly.
The same applies to products that have been personalized or custom-made.
For all other products, or if the order error is on my part, it will of course be possible to return the item by contacting me via email within 14 days of receiving the order. The refund procedures are detailed in the Terms and Conditions of Sale.
Why is shipping to the United States not available?
In recent months, the United States has changed its regulations regarding customs procedures. The shipping service I use (Laposte) has temporarily suspended the shipment of small goods while updating their system to comply with the new regulations.
However, feel free to contact me for more information on this matter.
