Q&A

About PLVGCVLT

My name is Hugo and I am the creator of the PLVGCVLT shop. Drawn to woodworking and body modifications, I combine these two passions in crafting wooden objects, particularly body jewelry designed for stretched earlobes.

I am the only person behind the management of the shop, from crafting the products to their shipment, including the creation of the website, visual materials, and social media management.

I work in a small workshop located in Moselle, France, in the Three Borders region (France, Germany, and Luxembourg).

I passed a National Diploma in Fine Arts (Art Option) at the National School of Art and Design in Nancy, France (2013/2016).

Products

Yes, even though I use some power tools, the majority of my work is done by hand in an artisanal way.

The circular pieces are individually carved on a wood lathe, the finish sanding is done by hand, and even the packaging is printed by myself with a linocut.

I regularly try to show the different steps of the manufacturing process of my products in video. Feel free to follow me on social media to see more !

As the plugs are handmade and wood can slightly adjust based on ambient humidity, I allow myself a margin of difference of less than half a millimeter from the stated diameter.

A wooden plug should be worn in a well-healed and stabilized lobe, so any potential margin (if it exists) should not be noticeable.

The non-circular shapes have been designed to precisely match a standard plug size. That's why it is not necessary nor recommended to select a smaller size that would not fit well in the lobe.

Yes, whether it's for specific measures (half-sizes or larger sizes of plugs) or a custom project not listed in the catalog, feel free to contact me so we can speak about the feasibility of your project.

As wood is a living and rich material, the veining and color may slightly vary depending on the selected wood species. The unpredictable nature of wood is also its greatest asset. Each knot or other irregularity will make your product unique !

The same applies to pyrography, where the outcome may vary based on the size and wood species chosen.

Feel free to ask me for a true to scale pyrography test on the wood type you want before placing an order to make sure the outcome will meet your expectations.

Hygiene, safety and wood maintenance

Wood is known for being lightweight, comfortable to wear and it significantly reduces unpleasant smells for the people prone to this issue.

To minimize the risk of allergic reactions, I have chosen a range of wood species commonly used by wooden plug manufacturers. That's why more exotic species like amaranth or zebrawood are only suggested as inlayed in another wood to avoid direct contact with the skin. Despite all these precautions, zero risk does not exist and each body might react differently. That's why it is recommended to remove plugs at the slightest suspicion of an allergic reaction.

As for the finish I use no varnish, only vegetable oil and carnauba wax (which is also suitable for vegans).

No, wooden plugs should only be worn on fully healed and stabilized earlobes.

You just need to apply a drop of vegetable oil (olive, coconut, jojoba, etc.) from time to time using a clean and dry cloth on your jewelry. After a few minutes of drying, they will be ready to wear again !

Order, Payment and Delivery

You may notice that there is no shopping cart to place an order. Simply fill out the Price Request Form or the Contact Form so that I can estimate the feasibility of your project and give you its exact price.

If the price suits you, we can proceed with the validation of your order.

I currently offer two payment methods :

Through PayPal : I will send you a PayPal email with the summary invoice and the link to directly pay for your order.

Through bank transfer : I will provide you my bank details so that you can make the transfer to place your order. Please note that the payment will be confirmed once I have received your transfer.

The average maximum production time for most orders is around 10 days. This timeframe may vary depending on the complexity of your project, current order volume, and any potential periods of rest/vacation. The current timeframe will always be communicated to you before confirming your order.

The delivery time for metropolitan France is approximately 2 to 3 business days, and around 1 or 2 weeks for other destinations.

I use the French national postal service (LaPoste) for the shipment of orders.

I only offer delivery with a tracking number, which will always be provided to you by email upon the shipment of your order.

Customer support

You can contact me anytime through the form in the Contact section or by directly sending an email to the following address: plvgcvlt@gmail.com

I will respond to your questions as soon as possible !

Regarding wooden plugs and tunnels, I unfortunately cannot accept returns for hygiene reasons. As they cannot be effectively disinfected, I won't be able to do anything with a pair that has already been worn by a customer, even for a short period.

The same applies to products that have been customized or made to measure.

For all other products or if the error is on my part, it will of course be possible to arrange a return by contacting me by email within 14 days after receiving the order. Refund procedures are specified in the Terms of Sales.
